I’m a plalker (picking up trash as I walk) and a multi-passionate maker. My work transforms single-use plastics and other consumer waste into functional, decorative, and wearable art. I work across a range of mediums, creating textiles, assemblages, jewelry, prints and ceramics, all with a focus on repurposing what others discard.
Hand stitched plastic bags, Trashtrays, one-of-a-kind jewelry, assemblage and fine art prints.
My mission, join me.
This planet is awe-inspiring, filled with extraordinary natural beauty and incredible wildlife and increasingly threatened by improperly discarded trash, an ineffective recycling system, and the impact of overconsumption. Mismanaged waste, single-use plastics, synthetic fibers, and the chemicals used in plastic manufacturing and disposal are wreaking havoc on the environment and our health. These pollutants infiltrate our waterways, endanger wildlife, contaminate our food supply, and ultimately jeopardize our future. Microplastics are now present in the water we drink, the food we eat, and the air we breathe. Single use plastic and other consumer waste has woven its way into every aspect of our being and every facet of my art making practice.
Plastic and Pearls, repurposes discarded plastics, food packaging and other consumer waste and transforms them into wearable and decorative art. Each piece is created with the intent to raise awareness, inspire change, and encourage a renewed respect for our planet. While reaching zero waste may be ambitious, creating less waste is within our reach, and together, we can make that difference.
Here’s how we can all help:
Pick up litter whenever you see it.
Strive to make less waste.
Seek out alternatives to single-use plastics.
Consume thoughtfully and repurpose creatively.
Together, let’s work toward a future where we tread more gently on this planet.
